Welcome ...

Message from the President

Dear Sorors and Friends:

Welcome to the online website of Rho Theta Omega Chapter (RTO) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated! Our chapter of over two hundred college-educated and empowered professional women has been serving the Greater Philadelphia Community, since 1988! Our chapter was the 100th Chapter chartered in the North Atlantic Region. Rho Theta Omega Chapter's primary aim is to continue the rich legacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated by being of Service to All Mankind!

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded on the campus of Howard University, Washington, DC on January 15, 1908. Our beloved sorority, which was birthed by sixteen young women, now boasts a membership of over 260,000 women worldwide.

Rho Theta Omega Chapter has heard the call and is inspired anew to sisterhood, scholarship and service as embodied by the sorority's 2010-2014 International Program entitled, "Global Leadership through Timeless Service." Our 28th International President is Carolyn House Stewart.

The sixteen young women in 1908 and thousands since have captured the vision so fair! We are servant leaders! Our attitude is our altitude! For us, the sky is the limit! For us, all things are possible, since we believe! We think BIG!

For over nineteen years, Rho Theta Omega's philanthropic arm, The Ivy Legacy Foundation, has sponsored one of Philadelphia's premier events, "Philly's Men Are Cookin'!" The proceeds from this event alone have provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships for deserving graduating high school students! These scholarships helped make dreams come true and college or other post-secondary opportunities a reality! For us, that is Big!

Rho Theta Omega sorors embark on our new mission of "Rising to Every Occasion Together, Stronger and Better ... RTO Cares." We have "Greater laurels to win, greater tasks to begin." We will achieve our goals and vision, as we continue to serve our global community and the families in need.

In closing, community service organizations interested in exploring possible partnerships, as well as sorors who may be interested in membership reactivation or transfers, please contact us today!

Sincerely,

Mary E. Houston
